The Navy NOGAPS is running again. Thanks for your patience.

The (Weather Research Forecast) model which eventually will replace the NAM, I hope to have available within 1-2 months. Depending upon when I can get the model running and or get the output data from NCAR/NCEP or another source. Stay Tuned.

The primary server failed and a good bit of data was lost. I am repairing the original server and have purchased a new high end server to replace the the primary server. There are a few products that are not working at the moment, but I am working deli gently to get everything back to normal. Once the new server comes on-line, this will give us the ability to add even more products and generate them faster. I am also working on getting the WRF model in house running. So please bear with us as we try to restore all the functionality to the web site.

The ECWMF model physics were upgraded on February 1st. The details can be found here. ECMWF Model Changes .

**Update**: 1/03/03 NCEP informs us that they will upgrade their equipment within the next 3 weeks.

The 12Z and 00Z GFS model updates have been slower than usual recently. This is due to network congestion on the NCEP router. NCEP has ordered an upgrade and when this is delivered we can expect an improvement in the update times. The other model runs, including the 18Z/06Z GFS are not as adversely affected.

11/20/99 New Products

Several new items:

NCEP now has most all of the models running on the new IBM SP system, which means all of the model data that was either missing or was
delayed is now available again. One new benefit is the Meso-ETA model is now available out to 48 hours 4 times per day. The runs are 12Z/18Z/00Z/06Z.

The AVN-Hires is also available 4 times per day out to 84 hours with run times of 12Z/18Z/00Z/06Z.

I have added some new products over the last week. Here are the highlights.

The hourly RUC forecasts have been extended to include forecasts out to 12 hours, previously the forecast loop was only available out to 3 hours.
By selecting "12 hour loop" in the drag down box you can generate a 1,2,3,6,9,12 hour forecast loop centered on any location.  See:

/hourly.shtml

Also new is the ability to animate the previous 12 hour RUC analyzed fields under "Surface Loops" drag down menu, the [RUC] entries
are at the bottom of the list.

Last but not least is the ability to animate regional radar imagery. You can select the number of frames to animate and the the images
will automatically update every 5 minutes when a new image arrives. The icons on the page also are updated several times per hour
so just looking at the icon page will give you a nice overview where the precipitation is falling. The Pinks and Blues correspond
to Ice and Snow respectively. The Radar Loop page is under the "Hourly Surface Charts" page.

10/8/99 NCEP Fire

The main Cray computer at NCEP was destroyed by fire last week and has had a significant impact on model production. Currently the ETA and AVN are only being updated 2 times per day instead of the usual 4. Also the models are delayed since they are running on slower machines. NCEP is in the process of converting the models over to run on the new IBM SP's which should be running in the next several weeks.  For the latest info from NCEP check here:

9/15/99  Data Problems Fixed

Problems with NCEP Routers has been fixed data is now flowing normally again.

9/11/99 UKMET Tropical Sector Added

I have added a UKMET tropical sector. The images are located in the tropical directory and are generated out to 72 hours updated twice a day around 22Z/10Z. They can be found here:
